Genett "Janet" Nissen, 1900-1924

This entire community was saddened last week on account of the death of Mrs. Ernest Nissen who died Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 3 o'clock in the morning at her home near Logan Center school. Her death was due to a Caesarian operation and everything that doctors and kind relatives and friends could do to save her life was done. Janet Southworth was born Oct. 9, 1900, at Minneapolis, Minn. She was united in marriage to Ernest Nissen in 1915 and to this union six children were born. The oldest child is seven and the youngest fifteen months old and are left to mourn and need a mother's care. She is also survived by her husband, father and mother, one brother, Earl, also two half brothers and four half sisters and other relatives besides a host of friends for to know Janet, was to love her. The funeral services were conducted Friday, Jan. 11, at two o'clock at the home with the minister of Webb and the minister of Gillett Grove officiating. A quartet sang, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." This song was sung in a clear voice by Mrs. Nissen just before she died. Those acting as pall bearers at the funeral were Louis Nissen, Fred Nissen, George Vanderhoff, Henry Stephas, Lou Stephens and Ben Stephens. Interment was made in Logan township cemetery.
