Martin L. Hanse (James Martin), the twelve year old son of Mr and Mrs. Olaus L. Hanse, who resided at the corner of Tenth and Water Streets, died Monday afternoon, April 14, 1924, at two forty five. He had been ill for only about a week, suffering from brain fever.

Martin was born April 5, 1912, at Morris, Minnesota. He came with his parents to Spencer about eight years ago. Since that time he had been a student in the Spencer Public Schools, being one of the students in the fifth grade of the West School. His death comes indeed as a very hard blow to his parents. He was a very likeable lad and many friends easily. He has many schoolmates who will miss him. He leaves his parents, three brothers, and a sister. They are Fred, Raymond, LeRoy and Viola. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved parents by their many friends.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at two thirty o'clock at the English Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment was made in Riverside.
