Services for George Ernest Schmidt, 93, Spencer, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Reformed Church, rural Everly.

The Rev. Steven Hyma will officiate. Burial will be in the First Reformed Church Cemetery, rural Everly.

Mr. Schmidt died Wednesday at Spencer Municipal Hospital.

Casket Bearers; Walt Schmidt, Ray Dirksen, Don Schmidt, Richard Schmidt, Eldon Tiam and Dean Tiam.

The Warner Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.

The son of Christian and Wilhelmina (Debner)Schmidt, he was born April 8, 1895 in Boone. His family moved to a farm north of Everly, when he was a child and it was there that he spent his early years. He received his early education at Okoboji School in Okoboji, after which he began to farm.

He married Gertie Ringering, December 29, 1920, at the home of her parents. Mr. Schmidt continued farming northeast of Everly until the spring of 1956, when he moved to Spencer. For a number of years, Mr. Schmidt worked with George Ditzel setting cemetery monuments. He was a longtime member of the First Reformed Church in Everly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1955; two children; two brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include one brother, Chris Schmidt of Fairbault, Minnesota.
