Sophia (Boyenga) Roskens
December 31, 1883-March 7, 1979Funeral for Sophia Roskens, 95, of Spencer was held Monday morning from Hope Reformed Church of Spencer.
The Rev. LeRoy Nattress and the Rev. Albert Moss officiated. Burial was at First Reformed Cemetery at Everly.
Casket Bearers; Edward Roskens, Eite M. Roskens, Harold Roskens, Evert Roskens, Bill Steffen and Eite D. Roskens.
Mrs. Roskens died Wednesday, March 7, 1979 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer.
She was born December 31, 1883 to Boye and Annie (Ringering) Boyenga at Ackley, Iowa.
On March 6, 1905, she was married to George Roskens at Geneva, Iowa. They farmed near Everly until retiring in 1935 when they moved to Spencer.
She was a charter member of Hope Reformed Church of Spencer.
Surviving are two daughters, Minnie M. Borr of Boone, Iowa, and Lillian A. Hubers of Modesto, California; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Edward and William Boyenga, both of Ackley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1961, and infant daughter, three brothers and three sisters.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
