Martin Roskens
December 1, 1881-November 18, 1959Martin Roskens, son of Eite and Hemke Roskens, was born December 1, 1881, in Hardin County, Iowa and died November 18, 1959, in a hospital in Sioux City. Funeral services were held at the Hope Reformed Church at Spencer, November 18, with Rev. J.E. DeYoung and Rev. Peter Yff of Everly officiating. Burial was at the Reformed Church Cemetery near Everly.
Mr. Roskens was married to Anna Bleeker at her parental home in Westport Township on March 5, 1908, they established a home on a farm north of Everly. Ten years ago when they retired, they moved to a home in Spencer.
Mr. Roskens took part in church activities at an early age and continued active all his life. He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Everly until he moved to Spencer and his membership was transferred to the Hope Reformed Church.
He is survived by three sons, Eite of Milford, Evert of Spencer, Harold of Everly, and two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Marie) Wood of Spencer and Milford, Mrs. Donald Klett of Everly.
Also surviving are three brothers, George and Thomas of Spencer, John of Clara City, Minnesota and a sister, Mrs. Mary Meyer of Everly; seventeen grandchildren and two great granchildren.
His wife, one son, Herman, his parents and one brother preceded him in death.
