Hilda Roskens of rural Everly passed away Thursday, December 16, 1999 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City at the age of 78.

Funeral services will take place in Warner Funeral Chapel at Spencer today at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas VanTassell officiating.

Casket Bearers; Don Nielsen, Del Roskens, Gene Fliss, Keith Fliss, Bud Meyer and Roger Meyer.

Interment will be in the First Reformed Cemetery of rural Everly under the direction of Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Hilda Anna Roskens was born to Dick and Gertie (Meyer) Roskens on January 6, 1921 in Everly. Her childhood years were spent in that community where she received her early education in rural schools.

After graduating from Everly High School in 1937, she attended Northwestern Junior College in Orange City and business college in Fort Dodge. Ms. Roskens remained on the family farm near Everly throughout her life. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Farmers Trust and Savings Bank in Spencer and later as bookkeeper and cashier at Evely State Bank.

She was dedicated helper in the horse department at the Clay County Fair for over 30 years.

Ms. Roskens was baptized and confirmed at First Reformed Church near Everly and was a member for many years. Later she transferred her membership to First Congregational Church in Spencer where she served as financial secretary for a number of years.

Preceding her in death were her parents, sister Johanna and brother Eite D. Roskens.

Survivors include; sister-in-law Aline Roskens of Spencer; special cousin Lois Fliss of Spencer; friend Vonnie Kruse of Everly; serveral nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
