Funeral services for James Arlo Roskens, 39, of Milford were held on Friday, April 26, 1974 from the First Reformed Church at 11:00 a.m. of rural Everly. He passed away on Tuesday, April 23 in Rochester, Minnesota.

James Arlo Roskens was the son of Eite and Rosetta (Pelley) Roskens, born at Milford, on May 8, 1934.

He attended a rural school in Westport Township and graduated from the Okoboji High School in 1952. He was well remembered as an avid athlete in his youth, active in 4-H work and helped his father farm.

He was united in marriage with Della Rae Peterson of Lake Park on October 5, 1956. To this union three children were born, Timothy James, 14, Debra Ann, 12, and Nancy Jo, 10. They resided on the family farm, where he and Della started farming after Jim returned from serving two years in the armed forces in 1958.

Jim was very active in the community and church. He had been a 4-H leader for ten years and was a member of the Dickinson County Fair Board. He was also a member of the Fostoria Co-operative Elevator Board. At the time of his death he was serving as a deacon on the church board.

He is survived and mourned by his wife Della, his son Timothy and daughters, Debra and Nancy; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eite Roskens, of Fostoria, one sister Mrs. Les (Jean) Kiel of Idaho Falls, Idaho, one brother, Jerry Roskens, Bettendorf, Iowa and his grandfather, Grant Pelley of Emmetsburg.

Mr. Roskens had undergone heart surgery at Rochester, Minnesota and died on April 23, 1974, just two weeks before his fortieth birthday.

He was buried in the church cemetery.

Casket Bearers; Orville Bleeker, Ray VanderBroek, Donald Nielsen, Eite Roskens, Clarence Birchard and Donald Klett.

The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of the arrangements.
