Memorial services for Mrs. Ruth Miriam (Meyer) Roisen, 67, of Lincoln, Nebraska, will be held at 9 a.m., Monday, September 2, at Everly Reformed Church, with the Rev. Steve Hyma officiating.

Mrs. Roisen died of cancer on Tuesday, August 27 at her home in Lincoln.

Mrs. Roisen was born March 12, 1924 on a farm northwest of Everly to Behrend (Ben) W. and Lalah (Brady) Meyer. She attended rural schools near her home and Okoboji High School near Milford. She attended business school in Fort Dodge, and worked in the county welfare office and in a law office in Spencer. She attended Dana College in Nebraska from 1947-1948. She later attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. She taught in the Everly elementary schools.

She went on to graduate from Luther College in Decorah. Following her graduation, she taught in the elementary schools in Mason City and Ames.

She married Maynard W. Roisen of Mason City on July 10, 1954 at the Everly Reformed Church. She and her husband moved to Fostoria, Ohio in 1960 where she taught music two years in the public schools.

The couple moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1965, where Mrs. Roisen taught part time in the elementary gifted program as well as giving piano and organ lessons. She had started giving piano lessons in the rural Everly area when she was 16, and had also performed on the Spencer radio station as a pianist, playing requests on a regular basis. She continued to give lessons until she became ill in July, 1989.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

She is survived by her husband Maynard; son Jay William; sister-in-law Marilyn Meyer of Everly; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
