Ella (Hoffman) Lair
February 1, 1927-October 30, 2005

Funeral services for Ella Lair, 78, of Spencer, who passed away Saturday, October 30, 2005 in the Heart Hospital of Sioux Falls, South Dakota will be held today, Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. in Grace United Methodist Church of Spencer.

Rev. Gary Nims will officiate the service.

Burial will take place at First Reformed Church Cemetery in rural Everly.

Ella Lair, the daughter of Martin and Ella (Sonius) Hoffman, was born February 1, 1927 in Fostoria. Her childhood years were spent in the Fostoria, Milford, Excelsior and rural Lake Park area, where she received her early education. She later attended AIB Business College in Des Moines.

Ella married Verle D. Lair on February 17, 1952 at her parent's home in Lake Park. She was a homemaker until 1973 when Verle and Ella founded Verco Seal Company. She retired in 2000, Ella enjoyed volunteering at Spencer Hospital. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Verle on May 27, 1995 and brother Andrew Hoffman.

Ella is survived by children; Alexis Lair of Minneapolis, Minnesota, John Lair of Spencer, Paul Lair of Okoboji and Debbie (Lair) and husband, Ronny Scheer of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren; great grandchildren; a sister, Joan Langel and her husband, Earl of Milford; and a sister-in-law, Lorene Hoffman of Lake Park.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
