John Beving, 78, Spencer, formerly of Everly, died Monday, September 22, 1997, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer.

Funeral services will be held today, September 26, 1997 at 2 p.m. at First Reformed Church of rural Everly, with the Rev. Paul Bussert officiating.

Casker Bearers; Gary Klett, Harlan Laubach, Arthur Laubach, Lyle Laubach, Brad Beving and Jeffrey Clausen.

Burial will be at First Reformed Cemetery, rural Everly, with Warner Funeral Home of Spencer in charge of arrangements.

John Edwin Beving, the son of John and Harmke (Meyer) Beving, was born November 26, 1918, on the family farm near Fostoria. Most of his life was spent in that area, and his early education was in rural elementary schools of Clay County. He attended high school at Pleasant Prairie Academy of German Valley, Illinois, graduating with the class of 1939.

He was lifelong member of the First Reformed Church near Everly.

In October 1976, he moved to St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer. During his time there, he completed a translation from German to English a book of 100 religious poems written and published in the 1880's by his great-grandfather, Geert Heikens.

Mr. Beving was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by one brother, Merlin Beving and his wife Phyllis, of Everly; and one sister, Annetta Laubach and her husband Harold, of Hartley
