John Beving
December 11, 1893-October 8, 1976Funeral for John Beving, 82, of Everly was held Monday morning from the First Reformed Church of Everly.
The Rev. Arlie Blok officiated. Burial was at the First Reformed Cemetery of Everly.
Bearers; Lloyd Mori, Donald Klett, Dale Schoning, Dick Beving, Norman Winter and Bob Meyer.
Mr. Beving died Friday at the Spencer Municipal Hospital.
He was born December 11, 1893, to Dirk E. and Trientje (Heikens) Beving in Summit Township, Clay County, Iowa.
On January 1, 1918, he was married at Everly.
Mr. Beving received his early schooling at Summit No. 2 then attended business college at Estherville and Buena Vista College at Storm Lake. He then enrolled at Dubuque University where he spent 5 years.
He was lifelong member of First Reformed Church of rural Everly; held the offices of deacon and elder on the consistory of the church and served 14 years as superintendent of the Sunday School. He served as township clerk in Summit Township; school treasurer and was a member of the telephone board a number of years.
Surviving are two sons, John E. and Merlin Beving, both of Everly; three daughters, Mrs. Ed (Lenora) Bernier of Winslow, Arizona; Mrs. Leonard (Janell) Clausen of Spencer, and Mrs. Harold (Annetta) Laubach of Hartley; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Miss Annie Beving of Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1972; two sons; a grandson and three brothers.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
