July 23, 1912-December 5, 1984

Funeral services for LeRoy Henry Dirks, 72, of Everly, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. He died at St Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, Wednesday.

The Rev. Roger Hanson will officiate and burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery at Everly.

Casket Bearers; Jerry and Richard Holst, Duane Ott, Stanley Meyerdirk, Jerry Kimball and Roger Ginger.

He was born July 23, 1912 in LeMars to William and Johanna (Pageler) Dirks. His childhood years were spent in the Ireton area where he recieved his early education.

Mr. Dirks and Fern Webert were married March 5, 1932 in Hudson, South Dakota. The early years of their marriage were spent in LeMars where he owned and operated a trucking company. They moved to Merrill in 1943 where he started and auto repair business.

He operated this until moving to Everly in 1955. He continued with his own repair business, recently operating it on a part-time basis.

Mr. Dirks was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly, of the Spencer Squares and was active in bowling, horseshoes and square dancing.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Loanne Dodge of Ankeny; one son, Harlan of San Jose, Callifornia; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three brothers, Henry and Robert of LeMars and Leonard of Hawarden; one sister, Mrs Kenneth(Marie) Eppling of Merrill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ordell; one granddaughter and one brother.

The Warner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
