December 8, 1915-September 29, 1998

V.R. "Barb" Dillingham, 82, Everly, died Tuesday, September 29, 1998, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital, Spencer.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 2, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Everly, with the Rev, Shurmaine McAlphine offficiating.

Casket Bearers; Brad Pahl, Mark Dillingham, Scott Kolbeck, Kevin Dillingham, Mark Fredericks, and Gary Grapevine.

Military services will be conducted by Arthur W. Kirchoff Post #288.

Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly, with Warner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Verlin Rolland Dillingham, the son of Alvaha and Blanche (Hansen) Dillingham, was born December 8, 1915, in Haddam, Kansas, and received his education in Moneta and Everly.

On April 25, 1934, Verlin married Alice Jelden in Canton, South Dakota and following their marriage, they lived in South Dakota for a short period of time. They then moved to Everly where he began his gas station business and Barb's Restaurant.

On March 9, 1944, he entered the military and served with the Army Air Force until the time of his discharge on September 25, 1945, at Camp Douglas, Utah. Following his discharge he came back to Everly where he continued to operate his business. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Hartley and the Everly Commerical Club.

Mr. Dillingham married Ardys (Clay) Krutzfeldt on June 2, 1982, in Hartley, and following their marriage they to live in Everly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson.

Mr. Dillingham is survived by his wife, Ardys; four sons; Larry Dillingham and his wife, Doweene, of San Antonio, Texas; Lanny Dillingham and his wife Ardine, of Harris; Dennis Dillingham and his wife, Linda, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Randy Dillingham of Spirit Lake; three step-daughters; Bonita Pahl and her husband Arnold, of Wahpeton; Bette Stallman and her husband, Richard, of Everly; Brenda Fliss and her husband Keith, of Everly; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; numerous great and step-grandchildren; one brother, Orval Dillingham of Garden Grove, California and one sister, Marjorie Swartfager of Carlsbad, California.
