Funeral for Ben Brewer, 82, of Gillett Grove was held Tuesday, March 16, 1976 from the United Methodist Church of Gillett Grove.

The Rev. Lawrence Hartley officiated. Burial was at Lone Tree Cemetery at Everly.

Bearers; Lawrence Leslie, Loren Lee Leslie, Perry Leslie, Gary Roskens, Dale Hollesen and LeRoy Dirks.

Mr. Brewer died March 13 at Longhouse Residence in Spencer.

He was born February 4, 1894, to James and Rose (Palmer) Brewer at Conrad, Iowa.

On May 9, 1916, he was married to Betsy Clare Knudson of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Mr. Brewer reveived his education and graduated from Sutherland. He studied the jewelers trade in St. Paul and worked for his father in Sutherland. He worked in a jewelry store in Royal and in 1918 took an examination for rural mail carrier. He retired from the Postal Service in 1945 and did some work as a common laborer. He moved to Gillett Grove from Everly in 1963. He suffered a stroke in 1972 and was later admitted to Longhouse Residence.

Mr. Brewer was a member of the United Methodist Church of Gillett Grove.

Surviving are his widow, Betsy of Gillett Grove; a brother, Maurice Brewer of Altoona, Iowa, and two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Oma) Stough of San Diego, California, Mrs. M.C. (Mildred) Macomber of Richmond, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
