Services Held Tuesday For Lena Boehmke

Lena Boehmke, oldest child of Fred and Minnie (Moeller) Boehmke, was born in Belle Plaine, Iowa, November 29, 1877, As a small child she moved with her parents to Gladbrook where they resided about three years. In 1884, they came to Everly where she has since lived with exception of several winters spent in California.

She received her education the Everly schools. For many years she operated a millinery and variety store in Everly. For the past fifteen years she was housekeeper in the John Heuck home. She was baptized in the Lutheran Faith and was a faithful member of the Hope Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Society of Everly. She was active in all the activities of the church and also took a keen interest in all civic affairs and was always willing to do her share when asked. Her many acts of kindness will be remembered by old and young and her presence will be greatly missed.

In failing health for the past months she became suddenly ill Sunday, July 10 and was taken to the Spencer hospital for medical care where she passed away, Friday afternoon, July 15.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Albert and sister Kathryn. She leaves to mourn her loss, her only sister, Mrs. Fred Fuscher of Long Beach, California, two aunts, Mrs. Louise Wohlenberg and Mrs. P.H. Thiessen both of Everly, numerous cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the Hopr Lutheran Church by Rev. A. H. Zeilinger Tuesday afternoon, July 19 at two o'clock.

Pallbearers; Arthur Heuck, George Stuhr, R.J Ergner, Orie Lohrman, William Jensen and Peter Matthiesen.

Interment was made in Lone Tree Cemetery at Everly.
