March 27, 1905-April 15, 1997

Mary Ellen Corbin, 91, Royal, died Tuesday, April 15, 1997, at Community Memorial Health Center, Hartley.

Funeral services will he held today, April 19, 1997 at 10 a.m. at Warner Chapel, Spencer, with the Rev. Theodore A. Lefzring officiating.

Casket Bearers; Dean Brugman, Dan Brugman, Jim Olson, David Brugman, Howard Lacey and Vernon Mortensen.

Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly, with Warner Funeral Home of Spencer in charge of arrangements.

Mary Ellen Corbin, the daughter of Oliver and Catherine (Hoberg) Corbin, was born March 27, 1905 at home near Royal.

In her early years, she remained at home where she was educated at local schools. In 1930, she moved to Los Angeles, California, where she was employed by the Kress Company as a sales clerk. In the late 1930's, she returned to Iowa where she and her brother farmed the home farm in a partnership.

She was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Royal and belonged to the Ladies Altar Society, She was also active in the Farmers Union and manned a booth at the Clay County Fair for many years. She served as a delegate for the Iowa Democratic Party. She was a member and past secretary of the Northwest Iowa Gladiola Growers Society.

Miss Corbin was preceded in death by her parents and two brother, Arthur and Perry.

She is survived by a nephew, Arthur Corbin, of Neshkoro, Wisconsin and a niece, Margaret Roggow of Fremont. Wisconsin.
