December 19, 1900-February 21, 1999Esther L. Clarksean, 98, Estherville, died Sunday, February 21, 1999, at Avera Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, February 23, 1999, at Good Samaritan Chapel, Estherville, with the Rev. Larry Willey officiating.
Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly, with the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Estherville.
Esther L. Clarksean was born December 19, 1900, in Hartley, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Rietzow) Clarksean. Esther moved with her parents to Polk County, Wisconsin, where they lived for 10 years before moving to Spencer. They later moved back to their farm near Hartley, where she lived until 1942. After living in Spencer for six years, Esther's mother died, and she moved to Evanston, Illinois. She took nursing training and worked in Chicago and Evanston for 10 years as a licensed practical nurse. She moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and was employed for 23 years as a licensed practical nurse. She moved to Estherville in 1982 and has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center since 1991.
Esther attended the Methodist Church, She Enjoyed reading, sewing, crossword puzzles and keeping a diary and journal. She has donated many of her afghans and quilts to charitable children's organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Esther is survived by a nephew, Robert Clarksean of Jackson, Minnesota; two grand-nephews, Charlie Clarksean of Alpha, Minnesota, and Pete Clarksean of California; a grand-niece, Racheal Clarksean of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and special friends, Marcia and Dave Forsyth of Estherville.
