Bessse Leta (Fell) Bixler
October 16, 1896-February 28, 1990

Funeral services for Besse Leta Bixler, 93, of Spencer, will be Saturday at 10 am at Warner Chapel with Dr. M.D. Summerbell officiating.

Mrs. Bixler died Wednesday, February 28, 1990, at Longhouse Residence in Spencer.

Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly.

Casket Bearers: Alvin Starner, Morris Fell, Merlyn Fell, Larry Beck, Lewis Fell and David Fell.

The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of John and Mary (Grendler) Fell, she was born October 16, 1896, in Everly where she received her early education, graduating from Everly High School. Mrs. Bixler later attended Iowa State University in Ames where she received her degree in teaching.

She married Clyde Bixler, December 21, 1921, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Following their marriage, she taught home economics in the communities of Primghar, Superior and Galva for 21 years, retiring in 1959.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.

Mrs. Bixler was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Carol Hirschyof Spencer; one step-son, Robert Bixler of Mason City; one step-daughter and her husband, Jean and Alvin Starner of Des Moines; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lewis Fell of Spencer and Morris Fell of Everly; and three sisters, Susan Fell of Spencer; Agnes Howe of California and Alice Jesson of Minnesota.
