Dennis Duane Berends, 43, Everly, died Saturday.

Services for Mr. Berends will be Tuesday at 10:30 am at the United Methodist Church in Everly, with the Rev. Emmanuel Das officiating.

Casket Bearers; Dwight Rutter, Jim Bunge, Gene White, David Kruse, Roger Nath and Gary Scharnberg.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be the fraternity brothers of Alpa Gamma Rho.

Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly. The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Berends was born July 28, 1946, in Lake Park to Archie and Darlene (Woltersdorf) Berends. He received his early education in Ocheyedan and Everly. He attended Iowa State University in Ames and graduated from there with a bachelor of science in animal science. While attending ISU he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.

He married Susan Vauldt in Whittemore on November 14, 1969. Following their marriage, they lived in the Whittemore and Meservey-Thornton areas before moving to Everly, where he farmed.

While in the Everly area, Mr. Berends was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Clay County Cattlemen's Association and served on the Everly school board for three years.

Mr. Berends is survived bu his wife; three sons, Scott, Kyle and Brent; his father and his wife, Archie and Jean, Everly; and one brother and his wife, Steven and Beth, Everly
