Florence Mae "Gramma" Baxter, 84, of Spirit Lake and formerly of Moneta, died Friday, March 27, 1992, at Spirit Lake.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 31, 1992, at 10:30 am at the United Methodist Church, Everly with the Rev. Larry McAlphine officiating. Burial will be at the Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly.

Caskets Bearers; David Saboe, Douglas Saboe, Steven Saboe, Larry Muckey, Lane Muckey, Mark Muckey and Lance Muckey.

Honorary Casket Bearers; Martin Baxter, Terry Muckey, Lloyd Muckey, Jeffrey Muckey, Ross Muckey and Brett Muckey.

The Baumgarten Funeral Home in Spencer is in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of George and Julia (Dietrich) Harvey, she was born May 8, 1907, at Platte, South Dakota. She attended the rural schools near her childhood home.

She married Gilbert Muckey in 1925 in South Dakota, and they farmed near New Holland, South Dakota, until his death in 1935. She married Leonard F. Baxter on December 22, 1942, in Pueblo, Colorado and they lived at Dawson, Minnesota, until moving to Moneta in 1950. In Moneta they owned and operated the General Store and Post Office.

Mrs. Baxter was a member of the United Methodist Church in Everly. She had been a resident of Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake since 1989.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, and infant daughter, one son, one great-grandson, three brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard; four sons and their wives, Roy and Barbara Muckey of Jacksonville, Oregon; Lloyd and Phyllis Muckey of Watertown, South Dakota; Del and Marcie Muckey of Spencer, and Leonard G. Baxter of Pocatella, Idaho; one daughter and her husband, Rosie and Morris Saboe of Moneta; one daughter-in-law, Lenora Muckey of Moneta; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dora Seegrist of Rapid City, South Dakota.
