William Barth, forty years of age, died Saturday, forenoon, December 2, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital.

Mr. Barth had made his home with his mother, Mrs. Mathilda Barth, who lived in Westport Township in Dickinson County. He had been in failing health several months and had undegone and operation for a malignant growth in his throat about a year ago at Iowa City. He seemed somewhat improved and was home again carrying on his daily tasks. Last October 16, his condition became more serious and he entered the Spencer Municipal Hospital, where he remained a patient until the time of his death. Mr. Barth was well known in Everly and community being engaged in general trucking.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock pm at the Cobb-Warner Funeral Chapel in Spencer. Rev. L.H. Preul of the Grace Methodist Church officiated at the services and interment was made in the Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly.

Pallbearers were Donald, Forrest and Duane Klett and Leo, Dwight and Louis Austin.

William Thomas Barth, son of Frederick Max and Matilda Mary Barth, was born May 19, 1910 northwest of Everly. At the time of his dath he was 40 years, six months and 13 days of age.

He spent his childhood in Clay and Dickinson Counties and in 1921 moved to Spencer with his mother and brother were he attended grade and high school.

Due to his mother's illness he quit school and for several years was employed as a farm hand. Nine years ago he began the operation of a trucking business which he purchased.

He was baptized in the Christian faith.

He is survived by his mother, his brother, Max of Spencer; two nieces, Mrs. Howard Gannon of Hartley and Mrs. Leo Thoreson of Spencer; a nephew, Richard Barth, also of Spencer; besides other relatives. His father died January 19, 1949.
