Everly, Jan. 29 - Fred Barth died Thursday at his rural home north of Everly after a short illness, from pneumonia. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. with interment in Lone Tree cemetery. The services were attended by members of the local Masonic order who had charge of the services. Deceased was born in West Baden, Germany in July of 1868 and came to Iowa when he was 15 years old. He lived the greater part of his life in Clay county. He is survived by his wife and two sons. Fred Barth was a good citizen and neighbor, and a kind and affectionate husband and father. He will be missed by a host of friends.

Frederick M. Barth
July 27, 1868-January 23, 1919

Frederick M. Barth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Barth, was born July 27, 1868 at Menzingen, Baden, Germany, and died January 23, 1919, of heart failure following an attack of influenza. At the time of his death, he was 50 years, 5 months and 26 days old.

At the age of 15 years, he came to the United States and made his home at Harper, Iowa with and uncle for two years and then went to Clay County, where he spent the remainder of his life.

On June 23, 1891, he was married to Matilda Klett. To this union were born Max aged 19, and Millie aged 8, who with their mother are left to mourn the loss of a husband and father. He is also survived by an aged mother, four brothers and one sister; his mother, Mrs. M. Barth of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; William Barth of Winfred, South Dakota; Emil Barth of Haynes, North Dakota; Mrs. Matilda Wegnen of Chicago; Henry and August of Everly.

Funeral services were conducted by J. H. Siewert at the home on Sunday, January 26th at 2 pm, and Masonic Brotherhood had charge of the services at the grave.

Interment was made in Lone Tree Cemetery.
