Edward Barents
January 8, 1920-May 21, 1978

Funeral for Edward Barents, 58, of Everly was held Wednesday from the United Methodis Church of Everly.

The Rev. Gary Bird officiated. Burial was at Lone Tree.

Bearers were Jack Harms, Gene White, Russell Highes, Delbert Boyles, William Hartmann, and Al Greg

Mr. Barents died Sunday, May 21, at his home in Everly.

He was born January 8, 1920, to John and Jennie (Levering) Barents at Larchwood.

On December 22, 1943, he was married to Alberta Mouw at Sanborn, Iowa. Following their marriage, he spent several years in the military. On his discharge, the family moved to Ireton where they lived four years, then moved to Sanborn where they lived 10 years, They moved to Hospers for a year and ato Everly in 1959.

Mr. Barents received his education in Ireton schools.

He was member of the United Methodist Church of Everly; Disabled American Veterans of Storm Lake; the American Legion of Everly and the Moose Lodge.

Surviving are his widow, Alberta of Everly; a son, Bruce of Pearl City, Hawaii; four grandchildren; three brothers, Gerrit and Juluis, both of Ireton, and John, Jr., of Fulda, Minnesota, and two sisters, Mrs. William Nelson of Yakima, Washington and Mrs. P. Henry (Marie) Walvaren of Hills, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
