Vivian Florence (Johnson) Aakhus
December 12, 1919-March 11, 1994Vivian Florence Aakhus, 74, Everly, died Friday, March 11, in Phoenix, Arizona.
Funeral services will be held today (3-15-1994) at 2p.m., at the Hope Lutheran Church, Everly, with the Rev. G. Duane Baun officiating.
Casket bearers will be Chad Yeager, Darin Lowe, Jason Nellis, Gavin Yeager, Christopher Aakhus and Mark Nellis.
Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly, with the Warner Funeral Home of Spencer in charge of arrangement.
Vivian Florence Aakhus, the daughter of Gerald and Nina (Rohm) Johnson, was born December 12, 1919, in Winner, South Dakota and it was there she received her early education.
On February 28, 1939, she married Melvin Aakhus in Fosston, Minnesota. Following their marriage, the couple lived in McIntosh, Minnesota, where they owned and operated a restaurant until 1942. Mrs. Aakhus then moved to Idaho for a short period of time before moving to Everly.
Mrs. Aakhus was employed by the Hartley Creamery from 1955 to 1968 and then at Superior Manufacturing of Spencer from 1969 to 1986.
While living in Everly, she was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church.
Mrs Aakhus was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, one sister and one grandchild.
She is survived by three sons, Douglas Aakhus of Phoenix, Arizona; Larry Aakhus of Lawton and Dean Aakhus of Milford; five daughters, Linda and Dale Nellis of Sutherland; Marlene and Dick Brookfield of Sutherland. Myrna and Bruce Yeager of Chaska, Minnesota, Carol Lowe of Sutherland and Holly and Dennis Baysinger of Chaska, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Johnson of Spencer and Jack Johnson of Everly; six sisters, Maxine and Rudy Drath of Everly; Ruth Chase of Spencer; Ruby Hagerty of Fontana, California; Lois Berg of Spencer; Bonnie Newgaard of Laurens and Merle Hamrick of Spencer.
