Ralph (Punky) Scholten
March 4, 1949-July 21, 2005Ralph (Punky) Scholten, 56, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2005 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Warner Funeral Chapel in Spencer. Rev Tonna Parsons will officiate at the services.
Burial will take place at Liberty Cemetery in Greenville.
Casket bearers are: Anthony Myers, Dick Strouth, Vince Trierweiler, Garlin Kunze, Steve Hurst and Paul Tully.
Honorary pallbearers are; Marty Paulson, Robert Mills, Richard Harris, Jody Clark and John Hammes.
Ralph, the son of Mike and Margaret (Swanson) Scholten, was born March 4, 1949 in Luverne, Minnesota. His childhood years were spent in Brandon, S.D. where he received his education from Brandon High School.
On May 24, 1980, Ralph was united in marriage to Nancy Schoning at the Greenville Congregational Church. Following their marriage, the couple remained in Greenville where he was in the construction business for many years. He was associated with the Greenville Congregational Church and was a member of the Greenville Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his father Mike Scholten, father-in-law Ray Schoning, and his wife Nancy on April 17, 2005.
Ralph is survived by five children; Jayson Scholten and wife Shere, of Lead, S.D., Scott Richardson and his wife Serena, of Fostoria, Travis Scholten of Greenville, Deanna Scholten of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Patti Wiemann and husband Jeff of Everly; his mother Margaret Scholten, of Brandon, S.D.; seven grandchildren; mother-in-law Mickey Schoning of Milford; two brothers; Monte Scholten and his wife Kathy of Arizona and Linn Grove, and Lyle Scholten and his wife Joyce of Corsicana, Texas; and one sister Shirley and husband Richard Hirth of Phoeniz, Arizona.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of the arrangements.
Interment in Liberty cemetery
