Mrs. Anna Clausen, 79, mother of Mrs. H.L. Jackson and Hans F. Clausen of Spencer, passed away Monday, April 17, 1933, at 11:10 a.m. at the home of Hans F. Clausen, 553 Railway street, where she had been making her home for the past several weeks. She had been in fairly good health until about three weeks ago when she was confined to her bed. Last Thursday her illness became critical, and death, attributed to old age and complications, occurred the following Monday.

Funeral services were held Thursday at the Bethany Lutheran church at two o'clock, preceded by a prayer service at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Jackson, 577 Bender avenue, at 1:30 o'clock. Rites were in charge of Rev. K. Nyegaard, pastor, with interment being made in the Willow Creek cemetery beside her mother. Arrangements were in charge of the Jones funeral home.

Married at Cedar Falls

Casket bearers assisting in the services were C.O. Swanson, Charles McGinnis, A.P. Nelson, Sam Sorenson, Peter Robinson and Fred Heick.

Anna Clausen, daughter of Hans and Mary Wiedricksen, was born at Anslet, Denmark, April 25, 1853. She came to America at the age of 28 years, and made her home at Cedar Falls with her parents who had previously taken up residence in this country.

They lived for a short time at Cedar Falls where she was united in marriage to Rasmus Clausen, later coming to the Willow Creek community south of Royal. To this union were born four children: Hans F., Marie (Mrs. H.L. Jackson) and Fred, all of Spencer, and August of Dickens.

Confirmed in Denmark

Mr. Clausen preceded her in death a number of years ago, and for several years she had made her home with Mrs. Jackson until Mr. and Mrs. Jackson went to Cleveland, Ga., for an extended visit. During that time she was cared for in the home of her son, Hans, where she passed away.

Mrs. Clausen was confirmed in the Danish Lutheran church in Denmark when a girl, and since coming to Spencer had been a faithful member of the Bethany Lutheran church. She was held in high esteem and loved by all who knew her, and her thoughts concerned the welfare of others rather than the promotion of her own interests. Her many friends will greatly miss a cherished friend.

Surviving besides her four children are four granddaughters, Charlotte Helen and Mary Lee of Spencer, and June Ann and Lavonne of Dickens; also a number of other relatives and friends.
