George N. Hollister, 83, who died at Cherokee last Friday, February 21, was accorded funeral services Monday at 2 p.m. at the Cobb funeral home, with Rev. John McCracken, pastor of the Friends church of Greenville, officiating.

Mrs. A.A. Adams, Mrs. Alma Mason, R.C. Birdsdall and Kenneth Scott sang two hymns, "Rock of Ages" and "Nearer, My God, to Thee."

Pall bearers were Lew Mills, George Mills, Sr., Franz Barglof and William Lawson of Greenville.

Interment was in the mausoleum at Riverside cemetery pending the opening of the roads to Burr Oak cemetery between Greenville and Sioux Rapids.

Born in East

Mr. Hollister was born October 8, 1852, in the state of Massachusetts, being 83 years, four months and 13 days of age. He came to Iowa when he was about 22, and had lived in Clay county where he farmed, and at Marathon for many years.

His marriage to Rhoda Morris took place March 19, 1874. To this union eight children were born. Four children preceded him in death, three dying in infancy. A daughter, Mrs. C.H. Hummel, passed away about a year ago.

Remaining are his wife, Mrs. Hollister; a daughter, Mrs. A.A. Seaman of Greenville; and three sons, John of Yucca, N.D., Charles Ervin of Delano, Minn., and Harvey F. of Miami, Fla., nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a number of relatives and friends.

Attending the funeral services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Hollister of Delano, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Phillips of Laurens.
