Mary Anderson Barglof, 1835-1920

After a lingering illness covering a period of several years, Mrs. Mary Barglof, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Walstrom, 107 Grove street. After wagering a futile battle, due to the infirmities of old age, she gradually failed until the end came on Friday morning, December 3, 1920, at the extreme age of 85 years, 8 months, and 21 days.

Mary Anderson was born on March 12, 1835, in Ekeby, Sweden, where she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to Gust Barglof. They came to America in 1869, and located at Ft. Dodge, where they lived until 1891, when they settled on a homestead in Herdland township, one and one-half miles south of the village of Greenville, where the major part of her life was spent.

On September 27, 1896, Mr. Barglof passed away and since his death Mrs. Barglof has made her home in Spencer and among her children.

She is survived by six children, namely, Antone, Mrs. Carl Walstrom, Mrs. John Olson, Albert, Franz and Emil Barglof.

Funeral services were held from the Swedish Lutheran church Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock p.m. Rev. A.E. Gustafson conducting the services. Burial was in the family plot in the Herdland township cemetery.

The deep sympathy of this entire community is extended to the children in the loss of their loved one.
