M. L. Lauck Died Tuesday Evening

Had Lived in County for Nearly 40 Years; Funeral on Friday

Martin L. Lauck, age 73 years, a resident of Clay county for the past 38 years, passed away very suddenly Tuesday evening at about 10 o'clock at his home on North Grove street, following a stroke of paralysis.

Mr. Lauck had gone out in the barn about six o'clock to milk his cow. About fifteen minutes later his daughter went out in the barn and found him unconscious on the ground. He was taken into the house but never regained consciousness. He had been in poor health for the past few months.

Martin Luther Lauck was born in Rock Grove, Illinois, September 10, 1856, and grew into young manhood on a farm near there. At Rock Grove, November 7, 1878, he was united in marriage to Miss Maggie Dennehoff.

Mr. and Mrs. Lauck continued to make their home on a farm near Rock Grove for a few years after their marriage and then moved to Dakota, Illinois, where they lived for several years. In the spring of 1892 they moved to Clay county and made their first home northwest of Spencer.

During the time they were living on that farm, Mr. Lauck bought a farm and made many improvements on it. In 1902 Mr. and Mrs. Lauck moved to their own farm, northeast of Spencer, now occupied by their son, W.A. Lauck. They lived there until 16 years ago when they retired from farm life and moved into Spencer. They have lived at 752 North Grove street since moving to this city.

Mr. Lauck is survived by his wife and two children, Mrs. Maude Russel and W.A. Lauck of Spencer, six grandchildren, Orlo Russel of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Miss Ruth Russel of Rapid City, South Dakota and Miss Cleo, Miss Florence, Howard and James Lauck of Spencer, besides many other relatives and a large circle of friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the Congregational church in Spencer. Rev. Benj. J. Trickey, pastor of the church, will have charge of the services. Burial will be made in the cemetery in Summit township.
