Prominent Logan Farmer is Dead
C.B. Jones Died at Spencer Hospital Monday from Progressive Paralysis and Complications
C.B. Jones, for over a quarter of a century a resident of Clay county, died on Monday morning, June 30, 1919, at 10 o'clock, at the Spencer hospital. Death, which came after a several months illness, was due to progressive paralysis and complications. Deceased was stricken in March and on June 18th was brought to the Spencer hospital where everything possible was done to prolong his life but the insiduous disease had fastened itself on his frail constitution so that care and medicine were of no avial, and he quietly passed away Monday morning.
Mr. Jones has been a resident of Logan township for more than twenty-five years. He was a diligent worker, a successful farmer and a man always keenly alive to community interests. For over sixteen years he served as one of the trustees of Logan township. He was a prominent member of the Odd Fellows lodge of Ayrshire.
Deceased was born in Clay county, Indiana, on Septmeber 20, 1852, and when a lad he came with his parents to Iowa, locating near Boone. He was united in marriage September 20, 1892, to Miss Lizzie Dean. The following year they came to Clay county and bought a farm in Logan township where he has since resided.
Mr. Jones was the father of four children, Welcome, aged 19 years, Pearl, aged 13 years, Burnell, aged 11 years, and Ilene, aged 6 years, who with the widow, are left to mourn his death.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. Wardel will be held from the Methodist church at Ayrshire this afternoon at 2 o'clock. The interment will be made in the Swan Lake cemetery and will be in charge of the Odd Fellows.
