Alonzo D. Lynde, a resident of Clay county for forty-three years, died at his home in Peterson a week ago Saturday. He was past eighty-one years old. He was born in northern Pennsylvania in 1841 and came with his parents to Jones county, Iowa, in 1856. He lived in Jones county until 1880 when he came to Clay county and settled on a farm near Peterson. Mr. Lynde enlisted in the 20th Iowa Infantry in 1862 and served in the Union armies until the close of the civil war. He was married in 1866 to Julia H. Batcheler, who survives him. They had nine children of whom there are living, Charles H. of Storm Lake, Clara E., James E. and Allen L. of Peterson and Mrs. Ava L. Fish of Marathon.
