Aileen Mae White, 1916-1928

Aileen Mae White, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. White of this city passed away Friday, April 20, at midnight, at her home, 340 west Second street. Aileen was 12 years, 2 months and 16 days old at the time of her death. She had been ill for thirteen weeks and was bedfast practically all that time. Aileen was first ill with infected tonsils and the poison went through her entire system. Later complications, due to heart trouble, set in.

Aileen Mae White was born at Spencer on February 24, 1916 and lived here all her life. She attended the Lincoln school and would have been promoted to the 7th grade had she been able to attend school during the last thirteen weeks. Aileen was a member of Mrs. L.A. Young's Sunday school class of the Congregational church.

Aileen Mae had a very large circle of friends both young and old, won by her likeable ways and her sweet disposition. She will be missed by her bereaved parents, her brother, Joe, and a great many other relatives, friends and classmates. Aileen is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. White, and brother, Joe, of Spencer, grandfather, H.G. White of Bruno, Minnesota; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Alstrope of Tabor, Iowa; an aunt, Mrs. R.E. Waterman, and an uncle, J.I. White, both of Denver, Colo.

Funeral services were held at the Cobb chapel Monday afternoon at 2:30 and burial was made in the Riverside cemetery, Spencer. Rev. Benj. J. Trickey, pastor of the Congregational church had charge of the services. In his sermon, Rev. Trickey, compared the Master going into His garden to gather the lillies, with people. Mrs. R.L. Gartland sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Somewhere a Voice is Calling." Mrs. Randall Tuttle played the organ. Misses Margaret Downs, June Anderson, Mildred Groves, Adele Penterman and Carol and Coral Meyer were pall bearers. Misses Nancy Barnard, Adaline Asher, Mary Elese Besse, Gertrude Ann Muck, Iona Ketelson, June Lighter, Maxine Thomas, Betty Norman and Adaline Larson were flower girls.

People from out of town who attended the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. t. Alstrope of Tabor, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Estes and children of Paullina, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. C.O. Adamson and children of Tabor, Iowa. Mrs. Alstrope came last Thursday and was with her daughter, Mrs. J.D. White, at the time of Aileen's death.
