Mrs. Bessie E. Oliver of Everly, Iowa, died Thursday, July 8, 1926, at the Spencer hospital, where she had been under treatment for one brief day. She had not been in good health for several weeks, having suffered from an attack of the flu. On Wednesday, July 7, she was taken worse and rushed to the Spencer hospital where she underwent an operation. Her condition was extremely critical and all the care and medical treatment could not possibly retain her life. The immediate cause of her death was peritonitis. She was thirty-seven years and eight months old.

Mrs. Oliver, nee Bessie E. Mundy, was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on November 8, 1888. On October 6, 1907, she was united in marriage to Mr. Frank Oliver, at Norton, Kansas. To this union four children were born, Helen, Oliver, Paul and Dorothy.

Mrs. Oliver was a member of the Christian church of Chattanooga and later had her letter transferred to the Congregational church at Rock Rapids. While living in George she was an attendant at the Presbyterian church and was a member of the ladies' class in the Sunday school. In Everly she attended the Methodist church and was also a member of the Sunday school.

Mrs. Oliver was a faithful wife and faithful and kind mother. It was her desire that her children grow up in the fear and nurture of the Lord.

'Tis hard to break the tender cord,
When love has bound the heart,
'Tis hard, so hard to speak the words.
We must forever part.
Dearest Loved one, we must lay thee,
In the peaceful grave's embrace,
But thy memory will be cherished.
Till we see thy heavenly face."

She is survived by her husband and four children, one brother and one sister, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon from the Lutheran church in Everly, Iowa, with the Rev. A. E. Boell of George, Iowa, officiating, taking his text from Ezebiel 33:11. The wonderful display of flowers gave testimony of her large circle of friends, Interment was made in the Everly cemetery.
