Arnold Joseph Gloetzel, eight year old son of J. A. Gloetzel of Royal, died Monday morning, July 12, 1926, at 6 o'clock, at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Chas. Heilstedt, in Sioux township.
Arnold had stepped on a rusty nail about a week ago but little was thought about it and the foot was dressed and cared for by members of the family. Last Saturday night he was in town and felt all right. The next morning he complained of stiffness in the muscles in his neck and he was brought to Spencer where a physician was consulted, toxin was administered for tetanus, but to no avail, and his death came early Monday morning.
Arnold Joseph was born on August 1, 1917, in Buena Vista county, Iowa. He had been living with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Heilstedt, Sioux township, three years and six months. He is survived by his father, two sisters, Eleanor and Lola, two brothers, Eugene and Darrell, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held yesterday morning at 10 o'clock at the Sacred Heart church of Spencer, Rev. Barry, pastor of the Catholic church in Royal, officiating. Interment was made in Riverside.
