John Otto Hullegaard, 1848-1926

John Otto Hullegaard was born at Bornholm, Denmark, May 25, 1848, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L.J. Hjelm at Royal, on February 23, 1926, at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 28 days.

He came to this country in 1866 and stayed here five years. He then went to England and spent two years there.

He was united in marriage to Marie Larsen November 12, 1876, in Denmark. They came to this country in 1882. To this union were born four children, Abbie, now Mrs. L.J. Hjelm of Royal; Kramer, who died at the age of 12 years, and Hjalmer and Zeppora who both died in infancy.

They also reared Daniel Jesperson from the age of 2 years to manhood.

They lived on their farm in Lincoln township the greater part of their life, and were faithful members of the Bethlehem Lutheran church at Royal.

His wife died November 20, 1911. Since then he had resided in Royal. He leaves his daughter, Mrs. T. J. Hjelm, and five grandchildren, Nina, Alice, Ruby, Marie and Mrs. Lucian Baughman.
