Mr. Thomas S. Hagedorn, resident of Royal for the past nineteen years, died suddenly at his home Monday morning, March 26, 1928, following a heart attack shortly after breakfast. His death occurred about 9:45 o'clock. At the time of his death he was 73 years and twelve days of age.

Mr. Hagedorn had been in failing health for several years but had been up and about his usual duties prior to his death. He suffered the first heart attack Sunday afternoon, but had rested and had felt much better. The following morning he arose and ate breakfast as usual, and the second attack ended in his death.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home with the Rev. N.C. Carlsen, pastor of the Bethlehem Lutheran church of Royal, officiating. Burial will be made in Willow Creek cemetery, south of Royal.

Thomas S. Hagedorn was born March 18, 1855, in Fjalstrup, Haderslev, Denmark. He came to the United States and settled in Clinton county, Iowa, in the spring of 1872. There he engaged in farming and two years later removed to Cedar Falls, Iowa, where he remained for ten years.

In 1884 he went to Peterson and settled on a farm three miles south of Royal.

He was united in marriage on July 28, 1883, at Cedar Falls, to Miss Martha Wolf, who preceded him in death about two years ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Hagedorn retired from actual farming in 1909 and removed to Royal, Iowa, where they resided until their death.

Mr. Hagedorn, who was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran church of Royal, is survived by one sister, Mrs. Jens Hjelm, two brothers, L. Hagedorn and Clause Hagedorn, all of Royal, Iowa, other relatives and a host of friends in the community wherein he had resided.
