Helen Lundbeck Paulsen, 1911-2009

Helen Iona Paulsen, the daughter of Carl Algot Henry and Anna Johanna Hagedorn Lundbeck, was born June 9, 1911, in Lincoln Township, Clay County, Iowa. Helen was baptized on July 9, 1911, at the Lincoln Lutheran Church and confirmed on April 5, 1925, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She received her early education and graduated from the Rossie High School.

On June 11, 1938, Helen married Arthur Vernett Paulsen at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal. Throughout their marriage, they made their home in the Royal community where Arthur farmed on family farms south of Royal. Helen was an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal, where she was a member of the Altar Guild, Women of the Church and taught Sunday school for about 10 years. She was also a member of the Busy Hand Club. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, sewing and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Helen passed away on February 5, 2009, at Longhouse Residence in Spencer at the age of 97. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Paul; brother Arnold Lundbeck and grandchildren: Julie Anne Johnson and Ralph Chadwick Paulsen.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Ralph and Gloria Paulsen of Greenville, FL; two daughters: Annabel Wagner and her husband, Leon of Norfolk, NE and Louise Lyn Huston of Dubuque, IA; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
