Mrs. D. Collins
Mrs. D. Collins was born in Christiania, Norway, March 7th, 1837, and died in Spencer, Iowa, Jan. 14th, 1907, aged 68 years and 10 months. She came to America when about thirteen years old and settled in Wisconsin. Dec. 24th, 1850, she was married to D. Returning home in broken health he and his family moved to Clear Lake, Iowa. Soon after moving to Iowa, Mr. Collins went to Chicago for medical treatment, after which he lived but a short time. Mrs. Collins moved to Spencer in 1881, where she resided until called to the home beyond. She left three children, two of whom, Geo., of Prairie Junction, Minn., and Mrs. Sarah Sealey, of Platt, S.D., attended the funeral, which occurred Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 16th, the services being conducted by Elder Wright, pastor of the Christian church. Mrs. Collins was a member of Spencer Relief Corps, which looked after her in her declining years, ministering to her in her last illness and having charge of the last sad rites. Burial was in Riverside cemetery. (Spencer Clay County News, Spencer, IA, January 24, 1907)
