Death of Mrs. Grant Collins
Mrs. Grant Collins died at her home near Webb, Clay county, Friday, Nov. 8, 1907, after an extended illness. Deceased will be remembered better here as Hattie Clover, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sol Clover and a sister of Geo. Clover of this city. George was notified last Friday by telegram of the serious condition of his sister and in company with his wife started at once for Webb in an automobile. Mrs. Collins died at one o’clock that day and it was a few hours after her death that they arrived.Hattie Augusta Clover was born in Hardin county, Iowa, March 30, 1869 and died Nov. 8, 1907, aged 38 years, 7 months and 8 days. In 1871 she with her parents moved to Cherokee county where she lived until her marriage to Grant Collins in 1889. To them were born eight children, two girls and six boys. Five children survive her with the husband to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother and wife. She also leaves a father and mother, one sister and seven brothers. Deceased was baptized in 1886 and joined the Afton M.E. church.
The funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church in Webb Sunday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m. Burial was at Oak Hill cemetery near Sioux Rapids. (Aurelia Sentinel, Aurelia, IA, November 15, 1907)
