Mrs. R. H. Jordan Dead

This good woman died at her home south of Spencer June 3, after an illness of some time. Mrs. Jordan was born in Tipton, Indiana, on Sept. 1, 1849. Her maiden name was Nancy A. Vernon. When but a child her foilks moved to Illinois, living near Toulton, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Mr. Jordan January, 1867, and to them nine children were born, seven girls and two boys, two daughters and one son having preceded the mother.

About five years ago this splendid family moved to a farm near Spencer, and this has been their home since. Here they have made many warm friends. Mrs. Jordan was a splendid woman. A kind and affectionate wife and mother, beloved by her neighbors for her kind and gentle ways, and will be sadly missed in the home and community. She was a devoted Christian and a church worker.

The funeral was held from the home Saturday morning at ten o'clock, the services being conducted by Rev. O. M. Bond, and the interment was in Riverside cemetery.
