FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. W.J. ADAMS HELD MONDAY AFTERNOON
Funeral services for the late Mrs. William J. Adams of Whitefish, Montana, who passed away Sunday afternoon at 3:15 o'clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. B. L. Nutting, 327 East Seventh street, following a lingering illness of cancer, were held Monday afternoon at three o'clock from Grace M.E. church. Rev. F.C. Taylor conducted the services and burial was made in Riverside cemetery.
The maiden name of Mrs. Adams was Ollie Milisa Bakeman. She was born at Postville, Iowa, October 31, 1875, and had attained the age of 43 years, 10 months and 22 days when she passed to the great beyond.
When a small child she moved with her parents to Spencer, where she made her home until her marriage to William John Adams on October 12, 1896. Their home was made in Iowa and Illinois until twelve years ago when they moved to Montana where they have since resided at Whitefish.
The passing away of Mrs. Adams was the result of a long illness. For eighteen months she was broken in health and had submitted to operations and the best medical skill in an effort to recover her health. On June 18th she came from her home in the west to Rochester, Minnesota, to receive the treatment at the Mayo hospital and after recovering from the operation came to rest for, a few days at the home of her sister, Mrs. B.L. Nutting, in Spencer, expecting to continue her journey to her home in Montana. But her strength failed her and after nine weeks of suffering she quietly fell asleep in death.
She leaves to mourn her going a devoted husband, two daughters, Irma D. aged seventeen years and Kathryn, aged twelve years and one son Irving aged twenty years, who is now a sergeant with the 65th Engineers in France. Also four sisters, Mrs. B.L. Nutting of Spencer, Mrs. A.E. Moerke of Mason City, Mrs. Oscar McNeal of of Spokane, Washington, and Mrs. Joseph Wagner of Medical Lake, Washington. Besides these there are a host of friends in her home city in Montana and everywhere she has lived who knew her and loved her and mourn her untimely death.
Mrs. Adams was a life long member of the Methodist church. She was faithful in all her devotions and duties as a church member. She loved her home and her family and was kind and benevolent to others in time of need. She belonged to the Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and received from them expressions of friendship and love.
