Lillian Mae (Rohrbaugh) Fastenow, the daughter of Charles and Eva (Cunningham) Rohrbaugh, was born April 21, 1919 at Peterson, Iowa, in Clay County. Her childhood years were spent in Peterson where she received her education and graduated from Peterson High School in 1938.

Lillian was united in marriage to Jesse W. Fastenow on June 8, 1938 at Peterson, Iowa. Following their marriage they farmed south of Peterson.

She was a member of the St. John's Women's Fellowship and Rushing Brooke Club. In her free time Lillian enjoyed dancing, collecting buttons, gardening, and flowers, but most of all Lillian loved being around her family and friends.

On July 20, 2008, Lillian passed away at Sunset Knoll Nursing Home in Aurelia, IA, at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Fastenow; and her parents Charles and Eva Rohrbaugh.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Jerry (Sheryl) Fastenow of Spirit Lake, IA, Soni (Bob) Williams of Crowheart WY, Jesse (Peg) Fastenow of Peterson, IA; five grandchildren: Teresa and Don Johnson, Rhonda Sands, John and Melinda Williams, Wendy and Stephen Meyers, Jason Fastenow; seven great-grandchildren; four nephews; sister-in-law, Lorraine Kelley of Benton Harbor, MI; one aunt, Lorna Johnson of Spencer, IA as well as other relatives and friends.
