Word was received in Spencer this week of the death of Mrs. Sarah K. Thorine one of the pioneer settlers of the county. Her death occurred at Oshkosh, Wis., on September 20, 1923.
Mrs. Thorine came to Spencer about 1876 with her husband who was the first furniture merchant in Spencer. They made their home here until Mr. Thorine's death which occurred many years later. After her husband's death Mrs. Thorine went to Oshkosh, Wis., and had since made her home there with a sister and her nieces. During the past years Mrs. Thorine had made frequent visit to this city. She was eighty-seven years of age at the time of her death. While living in Spencer both Mr. and Mrs. Thorine were active workers in the Grace Methodist church.
