Funeral services for Walter P. Williams, 69, Spencer, were held Monday at the First Congregational Church in Spencer, with the Rev. Christopher Richards officiating.

Casket bearers were Harold Howe, Elmer Zinn, Jim Morony, Frank Hart, Oliver Vogt and Elwood Rix. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Spencer, and the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer was in charge of arrangements.

The son of Roy and Isabelle Dawson Williams, he was born Nov. 9, 1919, in Audubon County. He graduated from Viola Center High School there and from Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines.

He married Eve Jennings on Nov. 28, 1941, in Des Moines. Shortly after their marriage, Mr. Williams served with the Army from March 13, 1942 to Jan. 8, 1946. He also served two years of service during the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked for the Iowa Development Commission for six years prior to relocating to Spencer.

While living in Spencer, Mr. Williams was the manager of the Spencer Industries Foundation, the First Congregational church, Golden K Kiwanis, Evening Shade Lodge No. 312 A.F. and A.M. and the Abu Bekr Temple of Sioux City. After leaving the Industries Foundation, he entered real estate until his retirement in 1981. He married Lola Anderson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua in 1984, and they have spent their winters in Mesa, Ariz., and their summers in Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Eva.

Survivors include his wife, Lola; a son, Lee, of Davenport; a daughter, Vicki of San Diego, Calif.; two step-sons, Ken Anderson of Chicago and Robert Anderson of Spencer; four step-grandchildren; two brothers, Dallas of Des Moines and Kenneth of Alburquerque, N.M.
