Funeral Services Held On Thursday

SIOUX RAPIDS--Funeral services for Mrs. John Chalfant of near Webb, who passed away on Monday of last week, were held at the Baptist church at Webb Thursday afternoon and interment was made in Burr Oak cemetery.

Mrs. Chalfant is a sister of T.T. Williams of Sioux Rapids. Besides the husband and a son and daughter, the deceased leaves several brothers and sisters and a large circle of friends to mourn her passing.

The Webb Record, Webb, Iowa: Closing a long period of suffering, death released Mrs. John Chalfant Monday afternoon, December 29. Mrs. Chalfant (Minerva Williams) was born in 1881 on the Williams farm southwest of Webb. She was married in 1905 to J.E. Chalfant. Her husband and two children, Merle and Mildred, survive her. Mrs. Chalfant was a member of the Webb Baptist church. She is the second of her family to die within a month, a brother, James Williams having passed away December 3. Mrs. Chalfant had been in failing health for a long time. Nearly a year ago she underwent treatment for cancer at Savannah, Missouri, and seemed to be cured, but late the last summer her health again broke, ending in death.
