Wallace Hubert Jones, the son of James Floyd and Bessie (McDanel) Jones, was born on August 26, 1917 in Moneta, Iowa. His family moved to Dickens, Iowa, when he was four years old and he received his education in Dickens, graduating from Dickens High School in 1935. Following high school, he attended a Junior College in Emmetsburg, Iowa.
Hubert married Adorine O'Keefe on September 7, 1945 in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, they made their home in Dickens, where he operated the Dickens Champlin Service Station from 1937, until his retirement in 1987. Following his retirement, he moved to Spencer in 1991. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. He also was an avid reader, loved baseball and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. His recent years were spent at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer.
Hubert passed away at Spencer Hospital on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Adorine in February of 1984; two grandchildren: Shane Sikora and Michael Hansen; one sister, Mildred Alger; a son-in-law, Simon E. Sikora and three brothers: Chub Jones, Reid Jones and Frank Jones.
He is survived by three daughters: Gwen Hansen of Ruthven, IA, Colleen and her husband, Jan Heidecker of Ft. Collins, CO and Beth Sikora of Ruthven, IA; two sons: John and his wife, Debra Jones of Jackson, MO and Mark and his wife, Niki Jones of Dickens, IA; one sister, Anabel Tielbur of Spencer; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
