Funeral Rites Held for Mrs. Michels

Funeral services were held Friday, September 14, 1934, for Mrs. Francis Michels, living three miles south of Royal. She passed away Wednesday, September 12, at 11:30 o'clock a.m., at the Spencer hospital following a prolonged illness. Her age was 25 years.

Services were held at two o'clock in the afternoon at the Bethlehem Lutheran church at Royal were in charge of the pastor, Rev. A.P. Anderson. Special music was provided by Elma Jesperson and Theodore Nelson who sang "Rock of Ages" and "Abide with Me." Eliza Nelson accompanied at the piano.

Burial was in Willow Creek cemetery at Royal, with Iver Jesperson, Andrew Mathison, Clare Jones, George Bailey, Ted Martin and Chris Toft acting as casket bearers.

Born at Casey, Iowa

Lena Minnie Johnson was born June 14, 1909, at Casey, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson. Her family soon moved to Clay county, and she spent practically the remainder of her life in the Royal vicinity. In June, 1933, she was united in marriage to Francis Michels. There were no children.

Those Surviving

Mrs. Michels father preceded her in death. Her mother, Mrs. Anna Johnson, lives at Royal. Others surviving are seven brothers and sisters, Henry Johnson of Ocheyedan, Mrs. Christine Starret, of Mountain Lake, Minn., Clarence Johnson of Holstein, Mrs. Esther Stoner of Patterson, and Laura, Harry and Rosie, at home; nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Michels received baptism from the Lutheran church May 1, 1921, and had been attendant of the Bethlehem church.
