Funeral services for Leona Grace Fields, 95, of Spencer, formerly of Royal, were held Monday, May 21, 2007, at United Methodist Church of Royal. Rev. Roger Maize officiated the service. Interment took place at Riverside Cemetery of Spencer.
Leona passed away Friday, May 18, 2007, at Longhouse Residence of Spencer.
Casket bearers were Brice Whitacre, Brad Hallberg, Jason Hallberg, Thomas Ullensvang Jr. and Craig Woodall.
Honorary casket bearers were Jenny Whitacre, Jennifer Moral, Brooke LaFarr, Rachel Krier, Renae Drottz, Angie Fields and Stacey Nelson.
Leona, the daughter of Frank and Rachel (Martin) Bauman, was born Jan. 12, 1912, in Lake City. Her childhood years were spent in Royal where she received her early education and graduated from high school.
On Nov. 24, 1943, Leona married Bradley Fields. Following their marriage, they made their home near Royal. Leona was a fulltime babysitter in her home for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Royal and member of the United Methodist Women.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bradley on Feb. 7, 1966; one brother, Warren Bauman; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Leona is survived by her children: Lowell Fields and his wife, Marilyn of Storm Lake, Linda Nelson and her husband, Robert of Webb, Elaine Ullensvang, LaVonne Hallberg and her husband, Jeffrey of Norcross, Ga. and Lynette Whitacre and her husband, Jeffrey of Estherville; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
