Phyllis Elaine Rupert, the daughter of Oren and Lena Waechter Hibbs, was born September 10, 1923 in Elwood, Nebraska. Her childhood years were spent in Elwood, where she received her education, graduating from Elwood High School.
Phyllis married Allen Barnett Rupert on July 27, 1945 in Lexington, NE. Following their marriage, they moved to Spencer, Iowa, where she cooked in Everly, in the Arcade Café in Spencer and for Mathison’s for 13 years. She was a Site Manager for Area Agency on Aging at Spencer Manor. She was an active member of the United Pentecostal Church (later Faith Pentecostal Church), where she was a Sunday school teacher and choir member for many years. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Phyllis loved children, raising flowers and collecting salt and pepper shakers.
Mrs. Rupert passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa on Thursday, August 24, 2006 at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen on November 5, 1982; one brother, Dean Hibbs; and one sister, Betty Matson.
She is survived by one brother, Dale Hibbs of Ogallala, NE; one sister, Pat Roberts of Spencer, IA; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Interment in Fairview cemetery.
