The Funeral of the late George A. Scheffler was held Wednesday from the Jones Funeral Home and interment was made in North Lawn cemetery.
George Anton SCHEFFLER was born in Dubuque December 6,, 1881. With his parents he came to Clay county where his father homesteaded in Meadow Township. Here the deceased received his elementary schooling. Later on in life he took over his father's farm, and has lived here practically all his life. On April 19, 1905, he was united in marriage to Miss Marie Knudson. To this union seven children were born, two of which preceded the father in death, namely a daughter Verna and a son Howard.
The departed had been in failing health for the past months and a week ago Sunday he was brought to a local hospital for treatment. He departed this life Sunday, June 13, at 10:15 a.m.
He leaves to mourn his passing the bereaved widow; two sons, Vernon and Arnold; three daughters, Mrs. C. Browman of Spencer, Mrs. R. Hasara of Spirit Lake and Mrs. H. Runge of Spencer, and a grandchild Sandra Kay Hasaraa of Spirit Lake; besides one brother, Paul Scheffler, and one sister, Mrs. John Schmidst, both of Spencer.
Two selections were sung by a duet entitled: "No Night There" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
